This is a new 010
L
cash drawer lock and 1 key. It comes with the latch and locking clip for the backside of the lock. What is shown in the photos is what you'll receive.
This lock turns the key counter-clockwise, or left, to open the lock. Hence, the L in the part # 010
L
.
What Does It Fit?
This replaces a lock with 010L on the front of the lock. This is
not
meant to replace a 010R lock. See my other listing if you need
the 010R (right-turn) version of this lock
.
This is popular with some MS and Star cash drawers and MAY be used by popular POS brands like Radiant Systems, NCR, Aloha, Panasonic, and more.
For instance, this lock may be found on the Star SMD2-1617 (37964260) series of cash drawers.
How Do I Replace the Lock?
If you've broken a key off in the lock there are a few possible ways to remove the damaged lock. Once the drawer is open you can remove the retaining clip on the backside of the lock and it should come out. Installation is the reverse.
Use the Drawer Kick Feature of the POS Printer (if applicable) to open the drawer
See if there's a manual release/open mechanism on the bottom of the drawer
Remove the screws on the bottom of the drawer and carefully move the bottom plate enough to get a hand in and remove the clip
