12ftSimplified Subwoofer Receiver link
cable for Bose Acoustimass system 6 10 and15 series I II III or IV
Low cost solution!
If you have Bose Subwoofer from systems listed above and third party satellite(surround) speakers, you can bypass subwoofer and connect satellite(surround) speakers to receiver directly. This custom built cable provide a low cost solution to connect your Bose subwoofer to receiver.
Please do not buy it if you have to connect your speakers to Bose subwoofer because it's a simplified cable with no speaker connection between subwoofer and receiver.
15Pin female connector goes to Acoustimass. RCA plug goes to receiver which has active subwoofer output.
Some
systems
such as A
coustimass 6 series I & II or
acoustimass 10 series I & II do not have 15 pin connector. Please do not buy it in this case.
Most Home-Theater-In-box systems do not have active subwoofer output but passive subwoofer output.
You need a special adapter (
Attenuator ) which can convert passive subwoofer output to active subwoofer output. Check this link for this adapter.

FAQs
1 Q I have a Bose Subwoofer which has 15-pin interface, will this cable work?
A: Many other Bose Subwoofers have 15-pin interface, for example Bose 3-2-1 system or Bose Climate. However, this cable only works with subwoofer from Bose Acoustimass speaker systems model 6 10 15 16.
If you
DO NOT
see "
Bose Acoustimass 6 or 10 or 15 or 16 on your subwoofer
", this cable will not work and please do not waste time and money to try it. No exception. This has been proved by many buyers
2 Q: I cannot hear sound from small speakers. What is wrong?
A: The cable is for subwoofer only. There is no connection for small speakers. You have to connect all small speakers to receiver directly. If all your small speakers are currently connected to you subwoofer, please do not buy this cable.
3 Q: How do I know my subwoofer is in good working order?
A: Please make sure your subwoofer is in good working order before you order this cable. Here is the debug instruction to check your subwoofer. 1) remove DB15 connector from subwoofer and power on the subwoofer. 2) hold a metal pin or the metal section of a screw driver to touch pin 14 of DB15 socket connector. If the subwoofer is working, you should be able to hear low frequency humming sound. 3) touch pin 15, the subwoofer should be quiet.
4 Q: Comparing this cable with original Bose cable, it seems the subwoofer volume is lower when using this simplified cable. Is the problem related to the cable quality?
A: The original cable has small speaker connections. If you do not remove small speakers, you hear bass sound from small speaker as well. So, please remove small speakers from subwoofer when comparing this simplified cable with original Bose cable. You should not be able to tell the difference.
5 Q: Can I use this cable to add 2nd subwoofer to a 7.2 system?
A: Yes, many buyers buy this cable for the 2nd subwoofer channel.
6 Q: Can I use this cable to add 2nd subwoofer to a 5.1 system?
A: Yes, you need a Y-splitter to add 2nd subwoofer.
7 Q: how do I know the subwoofer is installed properly?
A: most receivers have speaker test function. Please use this function to test subwoofer.
8 Q: why the volume of subwoofer is very low? I can barely hear any sound from subwoofer.
A: First please use speaker test function to test subwoofer and make sure the subwoofer is connected and setup properly. Most receivers do not output sound to subwoofer when in 2 channel stereo mode or multi-channel stereo mode. You may google this topic with key words “multi-channel stereo mode no subwoofer output”. Please test your system with true 5.1 source, or Dolby pro-logic II mode.
9 Q: Can I hook up my subwoofer to TV audio output with this cable?.
A: TV does not have active subwoofer output, not regular audio output.
10 Q: Can I hook up my subwoofer to home theater inbox (HTIB)? It does not have active subwoofer output but passive subwoofer output.
A: You need a special adapter (
Attenuator ) which can covert passive subwoofer output to active subwoofer output. Check this link for this adapter.
