que Hearse Sleigh Horse Drawn Carriage Rare to find 1880’s
This is an original Antique hearse sleigh; that was put into use from 1880- 1914 in the funeral parlor that was established and operated its business in 1880.
Therefore it carried many dignitary and important loved ones to their final resting area throughout the years.
This sleigh was purchased after it was retired by the funeral home by a great man who was a real humanitarian Msgr. FR Russell Kohler in 1914; he helped many people in his lifetime and had an amazing journey.
The piece  is well constructed in solid and wood painted black; it has two carriage lights one of each side with vents and a canvas top with five attached ornate black wooden urns. The footrest has a small storage box underneath...  The interior has glass panel windows with wood frames and marron floral curtains with gold fringe.  The back has two doors that open and a wicker casket inside. The seat has been recently recovered in black and white genuine cow hide material with foam padding...
Condition:  Very Good for the age, the wood has typical nicks, scratches, cracks and marks as you would expect, there are some black marks and wear to the canvas top and to the paint on the metal, some marks on glass no cracks, a missing curtain panel in the back, one light has a newer globe inserted that we left inside and they are both non- operational.

We have left this piece in its original condition other than the seat that was recovered recently due to the fact it was not original and in poor shape.
